Janet Hartman, former software developer and liveaboard sailor, writes nonfiction articles and essays about boating, interesting places, and unique people. Now a landlubber in North Carolina, she also writes flash fiction and essays on the writing life.  She is the 2010 guest columnist for the Long Ridge Writers' Group newsletter.

Janet's memoir/essay "The River Maze" is included in the This Path anthology released in September, 2009 by Silver Boomer Books. Her poem/song, "The Ipod Song," sung to the tune of "I've Been Working on the Railroad," won honorable mention in the Lah Dee Dah Dee Dah poetry contest sponsored by The Ontario Poetry Society (TOPS.) It appears in the chapbook published by TOPS.

Janet's essay on Richard "Big Boy" Henry is in the Novello Festival Press anthology "Making Notes: Music of the Carolinas". Janet is president of Carteret Writers and a member of N.C. Writers' Network. She writes a weekly column for the Long Ridge Writers Group newsletter.
